DETROIT (AP) - Google is donating $232,000 for classroom supplies to Detroit-area teachers who requested funding through www.DonorsChoose.org .
The Web search engine and crowdfunding site recently said that at least 260 teachers at 179 schools will receive paper, pencils, books, laptops, musical instruments, microscopes and other materials for 32,466 students.
Teachers use DonorsChoose.org to post classroom projects. Google says it collaborated with DonorsChoose.org on the projects in Detroit and Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Washtenaw counties.
Google has announced similar funding campaigns over the past few months in several other U.S. cities.
