    Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has announced her intent to intervene in Consumers Energy’s latest request to hike natural gas rates by $240 million annually, which was filed yesterday before the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC). If approved as requested, the rate hike would amount to nearly a 10% increase for Consumers Energy gas customers, including an 8% hike for residential customers.

  • Minards sentenced after pleading guilty to two felonies

    On Wednesday, Robert Minard, 48, and Anné Minard, 38, both of Bath Township, were sentenced by Judge James Jamo of the 30th Circuit Court in Ingham County to a 6-month delayed sentence and 36 months of probation, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Each pled guilty to two felony charges pursuant to a plea agreement. The Minards are additionally required to pay full restitution for amounts owed to the Michigan Department of Treasury.  

  • Federal judge blocks Whitmer from shutting down submerged Great Lakes pipeline

    A federal judge on Wednesday blocked Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's attempt to shut down an aging oil pipeline running beneath a channel linking two of the Great Lakes, finding that only the federal government can regulate interstate pipeline safety.
