Dinner Crowd
The Michigan Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society hosted its annual dinner meeting on Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Detroit Golf Club. The dinner featured a keynote address by Camilla Taylor (fourth from right), counsel and marriage project director of Lambda Legal and member of the ACS Chicago Lawyer Chapter Board of Advisors. Taylor was lead counsel in Lambda Legal’s marriage equality lawsuit in Iowa in which the Iowa Supreme Court struck down Iowa’s marriage ban in April 2009. Happy to welcome Taylor were to the meeting (l-r) Valerie Newman of the State Appellate Defender Office; Jeff Raphelson of Bodman PLC; ACS-MI President John P. Jacobs of Jacobs and Diemer PC; Michael Pitt of Pitt, McGehee, Palmer, Rivers, & Golden PC; Tim Diemer of Jacobs and Diemer PC; Tom Tallerico of Bodman PLC; and Nate Fink of Zausmer, Kaufman, August, & Caldwell PC. Also during the evening, the organization presented the 2014 Milliken Award for exemplary public service to former Michigan Congressman David E. Bonior who served in Congress from 1977 to 2003
