DETROIT (AP) — Wayne County residents who failed to appear for court-ordered jury duty have until March 13 to request new jury service dates to avoid fines or even jail time.
Administrators at the 3rd Circuit Court say show-cause orders will be mailed out to people who have not made it to scheduled jury duty in the past 12 months.
Chief Judge Robert Colombo Jr. says in a release that “jurors represent the thinking of the community” and “it is a service that should command pride and pleasure of every citizen and should not be avoided.”
The court has jurisdiction over civil, criminal and family matters throughout Wayne County.
