The Family Division of the Oakland County Circuit Court conducted its Annual Celebration of Michigan Adoption Day on Tuesday, November 21, at the Oakland County Courthouse in Pontiac. This event was held in conjunction with the statewide celebration of Adoption Day. Celebrations included several in-person finalization hearings. Typically, adoptions are finalized in private. On Adoption Day, courts throughout the State of Michigan open their courtrooms to raise awareness and to inspire more families to consider adoption. Michigan Supreme Court Justices Richard Bernstein (far left) and David Viviano (far right) were among the special guests at the Oakland County event. The justices were on hand as Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Lorie Savin (center) presided over the adoption of Karter by Karina Hernandez (second from left) and Jaelynn Radatz (second from right).
