Law school hosts Henning Memorial Lecture March 4
Wayne State University Law School will present the annual Peter J. Henning Memorial Lecture on Monday, March 4, from 4 to 5 p.m. in Partrich Auditorium, 471 W. Palmer Ave. in Detroit.
This memorial lecture honors Professor Henning (1956-2022), a passionate and beloved teacher, a brilliant legal scholar, an inspirational mentor, and a colleague and friend.
Mary Jo White, former United States attorney for the Southern District of New York, will deliver this year’s lecture.
The lecture will be followed by a reception with hors d’oeuvres and refreshments.

Midnight Masquerade Ball hosted by Straker Bar March 2
The D. Augustus Straker Bar Association will host its First Annual Midnight Masquerade Ball on Saturday, March 2, from 7 p.m. to midnight at The Community House, 380 South Bates Street in Birmingham.
The First Annual Midnight Masquerade Ball will be where fantasy meets philanthropy. Guests are invited to don their most enchanting masks and exquisite evening wear to partake in a night of incognito entertainment for a great cause. All proceeds will continue to support the work of Straker Bar for its programming, scholarships, and service to the legal community.

Social Security Lawyers Section conducts ‘Winter Seminar 2024’
The Social Security Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Michigan will conduct its “Winter Seminar 2024” online Friday, March 1, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Attendees will hear from experts from the Social Security Administration and Michigan Disability Determination Services of Michigan on addressing common issues in the adjudication of claims at the initial and reconsideration levels of review as well as recent developments.
The virtual seminar will also feature a presentation by George Piemonte, a past president of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR).
