Clinton Township police officer arraigned for Law Enforcement Information Network Violation

A 36-year-old Clinton Township police officer was arraigned Monday in connection with allegedly violating the Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN).

An audit by the Michigan State Police concluded that on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, Clinton Township Police Officer John Hreno allegedly ran a license plate into LEIN that was never a focus of investigation by the Clinton Township Police Department and there was allegedly no valid law enforcement reason to run the license plate.

Hreno was charged with Unauthorized Disclosure of LEIN Information (93 day misdemeanor) and was arraigned Monday in 41B Clinton Township District Court by Magistrate Ryan Zemke where Hreno was given a $5,000 personal bond.

Hreno's next court date is scheduled for Tuesday, May 15 before District Court Judge Jacomb Femminineo, Jr.

"It is not only our duty but our obligation to ensure that the law applies equally to all, regardless of profession or position. No shield can protect one from the consequences of violating that trust, for in our pursuit of justice, no one stands above the law," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
