Gilman Award
The Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, hosted the “2024 Leonard R. Gilman Award Luncheon” on Wednesday, April 17, at the Atheneum Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Detroit. Among those attending the luncheon were (l-r) U.S. District Court Judge Denise Page Hood, U.S. District Court Judge Robert White, U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Kimberly Altman, former Gilman Award winner Gerald K. Evelyn, retired Judge Victoria Roberts, U.S. Bankruptcy Court Chief Judge Daniel Opperman, former federal defender Miriam Siefer, U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Lisa Gretchko, U.S. District Court Judge Gershwin Drain, U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Joan Larsen, 2024 Gilman Award winner Andrew Densemo, keynote speaker U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals Chief Judge Jeffrey Sutton, U.S. District Court Judge Robert Cleland, U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Edmunds, U.S. District Court Judge Shalina Kumar, U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Stephanie Dawkins-Davis, U.S. District Court Judge Stephen Murphy, U.S. District Court Judge Laurie Michelson, U.S. District Court Judge Paul Borman, U.S. District Court Chief Magistrate Judge David Grand, and U.S. District Court Judge Matthew Leitman. The Gilman Award is given annually to an outstanding practitioner of criminal law who exemplifies the excellence, professionalism, and commitment to public service of U.S. Attorney Len Gilman. The April 17 event celebrated the ideals of excellence, professionalism, and commitment to public service embodied by Len Gilman and this year’s award recipient Andrew Densemo of the Federal Community Defender Office.
