Looking at alternatives to incarceration
The Macomb County Bar Association recently held a seminar that examined available sentencing options to avoid incarceration. Among the featured speakers at the event, entitled ‘Treatment Rather Than Incarceration’ Impactful Sentencing, was Macomb County Public Defender Thomas Tomko (center), who is pictured with (from left): Holly Gruzwalski with Macomb Community Mental Health; Barbara Caskey with Macomb Community Corrections; Sue Lind, executive director of the Arc of Macomb County; and Lisa Lepine, quality director at the Arc of Macomb County who leads the organization’s SpArc Services program. Presentations focused on programs for individuals with primary mental health needs, adult outpatient treatment, residential services along with forensic and jail diversion programs as well as services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
