Law school hosts Happy Hour in Ferndale, Feb. 25


Wayne State University Law School and the Mike Ilitch School of Business will host a Happy Hour for an evening of connection, conversation, and fun at Syndicate Ferndale on Tuesday, February 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Wayne Law alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends will gather at Syndicate Ferndale located 140 Vester Ave. in Ferndale. Guests who register in advance will receive a drink ticket for a free beverage.?Additional beverages are available for purchase at the venue.

OCBA Challenge returns to TopGolf


The Oakland County Bar Association’s New Lawyers Committee is gearing up to face off against the OCBA Board of Directors for the 20th Annual New Lawyers vs. The Board Challenge. This year, they’re heading back to a favorite spot—Topgolf.

The Challenge will take place Thursday, February 20, from 6 to 9 p.m. at  Topgolf, 500 Great Lakes Crossing Dr. in Auburn Hills.

Tickets include food and the chance to join in on the friendly rivalry between the New Lawyers Committee and the Board.

Cost for the event is $60 for OCBA members and member guest tickets, $75 for non-members, and $30 for observers.

‘School Obligations Under Federal Immigration Laws’ discussed Jan. 29
Clark Hill will present the webinar “Understanding K-12 School Obligations Under Federal Immigration Laws” on Wednesday, January 29, beginning at 11 a.m. via Zoom.
Clark Hill’s Immigration attorneys will provide an overview of school district responsibilities under federal immigration laws, including the obligations to appropriately respond to federal immigration enforcement and to respect immigrant student rights. They will address the appropriate steps to take if Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrive unannounced at a school.
Speaking at the webinar will be Clark Hill’s Michael Nowlan, member, Detroit office; and Jennifer Cook, senior counsel, Washington, D.C. office.
