JARC, a metro Detroit based nonprofit agency that serves individuals with developmental disabilities, announced that their 2024 Fall Fundraising Campaign exceeded their fundraising goal, raising more than $1.4 million for the nonprofit. Funds raised support 120 adults with developmental disabilities at 45 locations in metro Detroit, including 24-hour care in group homes, independent living settings for adults, and respite services for children, teens and young adults. The nonprofit strives to provide the highest quality of direct care services tailored to each individual's needs, as well as a wide range of social and recreational opportunities to ensure that the people they serve live full, rich lives. It is through the support of generous donors that JARC is able to provide life-enriching opportunities for the people they serve including events and activities, engagement with other community members, recreational therapy, transportation and more. Part of JARC’s fall fundraising campaign included a special effort to raise $100,000 for generators for several of the homes of the people they serve with medical needs, which are a necessity as recent changes in severe Michigan weather have left several homes without power for up to multiple days, which is difficult for all but especially for the people served by JARC who require electronics like hospital beds, electric wheelchairs, and much more to function and therefore have difficulty leaving the house in the event of an outage. “We’re so grateful to have met our goal, especially in these inflationary times,” said JARC CEO Shaindle Braunstein. “Every dollar raised is critical to making sure that people can receive the services they need. 

JARC kicked off their 2024 Fall Fundraising Campaign on September 18th with their annual fundraiser featuring a performance by acclaimed mentalist Oz Pearlman, a former Michigander. The sold-out event welcomed nearly 250 guests to The Jam Handy in Detroit for dinner and Pearlman’s interactive mind-bending experience all in support of JARC.
