Society to present film on Oliver Wendell Holmes

The U.S. District Court Historical Society for the Eastern District of Michigan will present a special showing of the documentary “HOLMES: The Film” on Wednesday, March 26, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Detroit Room of the Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse, 231 West Lafayette in Detroit.

In the film, Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes spills irreverent wit and hard-won wisdom looking back at his life on the battlefield and the bench on his 90th birthday in 1931.

“HOLMES” was originally performed at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. on October 30, 2023 to a sold-out audience. Future View Productions, under the direction of Bill Goodwin, transformed the live performance into a feature film with four cameras covering the performance.  “HOLMES” premiered as a film on June 3, 2024, at the Supreme Court.

The event is free but a $15 donation to the Court Historical Society is suggested.  To register, visit https://edmibar.org and click on “events.”
