Showtime at the Courthouse
The U.S. District Court Historical Society for the Eastern District of Michigan presented a special showing of the documentary “HOLMES: The Film” on Wednesday, March 26, in the Detroit Room of the Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse in Detroit. Court Historical Society Secretary Kevin Ball (right) chatted with retired Judge Walter Shapiro (left) prior to the viewing. In the film, Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes spills irreverent wit and hard-won wisdom looking back at his life on the battlefield and the bench on his 90th birthday in 1931. “HOLMES” was originally performed at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. on October 30, 2023 to a sold-out audience. After a capture of the live performance, “HOLMES” premiered as a film on June 3, 2024, at the Supreme Court.
