State of the Court
Chief Judge Patricia Perez Fresard delivered the 2025 State of the Court Address on May 7 in the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center Auditorium in Detroit, providing updates on court operations, highlighting accomplishments of each division, and outlining strategic planning initiatives. A member of the Wayne County Circuit Court bench since January 1999, Fresard has served as chief judge for the past 2-1/2 years. The winner of the 2024 Archer Award, Fresard is flanked in the photo at left by Tracey Cooley, executive director of the Detroit Bar Association, which presented the event in cooperation with the Circuit Court, and Sheena Law-Killinger, director of Events and Programs for the DBA.
