Counselor's Corner: The journey through life

Fred Cavaiani

This column will be simple quotes  that have come to my mind over the years to help me understand and experience what the journey through life is meant to be.

Life is very short.

We are all on a journey into an everlasting life of joy.

How quickly life on this planet passes by.

Only in God is my soul at rest.

I become more fully alive and peaceful when I am loving toward others.

Life is meant to be a present-moment experience of God.

I discover my true self in reserving quiet, meditative time for me each day.

Positive spirituality brings a person into an embrace of feelings that need to be experienced.

You can’t heal what  you can’t feel.

I am never alone. God is always with me and embracing me with love in every moment.

It is a waste of precious time to focus on what other people may think about me.

I can positively invest in a  loving life or negatively invest in a miserable life.

Anger and resentments are defenses to distract myself from God’s love.

I must never invest in criticizing and judging others. It creates spiritual and emotional chaos.

Tears are to be embraced and never avoided. They are the path to healing and joy.

True spirituality does not condemn or judge others.

Religion and going to a church, temple or synagogue are simple aids to experiencing God but not to be used for condemning others.

The God of love and peace keeps coming to everyone.

A genuine receptivity to living is based on consistent love and kindness to everyone.

Only in God will my soul be at rest.

I must not rush through life because I will then run away from peace and joy.

When I simply and reflectively embrace this present moment, I will experience God.

There are no unimportant moments in life.

I will see and experience in the next life my family and my friends who have died.

I can experience the presence of my deceased family and friends at every moment of this life.

Life is so very simple and loving.  I must not complicate my journey into God.

When I slow down, I allow God’s loving presence to take over.

I become sad and afraid when I wander away from God’s loving presence.

It is good to embrace my emotional pain. It brings me into a positive experience of God.

When I focus on God’s love, I discover that everything in my life will work together for more goodness and a deeper experience of God.

The older I get, the simpler life becomes and the more real God becomes.

Happiness is the result of slowing down and listening to God and loving others. It is an immersion into God.

I feel so blessed and so grateful to be able to write this column over so many years. I  thank all of the editors of the Legal News papers. What a wonderful experience to be on this journey with all of you.
