Man sentenced for home invasion and stalking of Eminem

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that a 32-year-old Clinton Township man was sentenced Wednesday for home invasion and stalking of rapper Eminem.

On May 7, 2025, Matthew Davis Hughes was found guilty by a jury of First-Degree Home Invasion, Aggravated Stalking and Second Offense Habitual Offender for his actions on August 8, 2024.

On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, Hughes was sentenced in Macomb Circuit Court by Judge Diane M. Druzinski to serve 15-30 years for the First-Degree Home Invasion charge, and three to seven and a half years for the Aggravated Stalking charge. His two sentences will run consecutively to each other, resulting in a minimum sentence of at least 18 years. In addition, he is to have no contact with the victim, Marshall Mathers, also known as Eminem.

“No one, celebrity or not, should ever feel unsafe in their own home,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “This sentence sends a clear message that stalking and home invasion will be taken seriously in Macomb County and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Everyone has the right to privacy, safety, and peace of mind.”
