It was so inspiring to hear the impact Pat on people’s lives by her gentle kindness and care about others.
This whole experience helped me realize the importance of remembering loved ones and how they have positively impacted our lives. From birth to death there will always be people who have had a very positive influence on our lives. It is important to remember this and allow ourselves to appreciate gratefully this positive influence of love on our life. The memory of loved ones who lovingly and positively influenced us will help each of us appreciate and understand the importance of being kind and loving toward others.
I think the world is filled with Saints of Love. Each of us will experience a “Saint of Love” every day of our life on this planet. The impact these “Saints of Love” upon each of us during our life help us to understand what life is meant to be: A journey into love and kindness.
I have many friends, old friends, middle aged friends, young friends. I experience love coming toward me each day when I am with other people. The memory of loved ones who have died brings such gratitude into my life.
It is amazing how simple life becomes when I think about the loving people in my life. This memory of loving people helps me to realize that negative thinking about other people never helps me. But positive thinking and loving actions toward others becomes such an uplifting experience. Last Saturday as I sat at a table with my two loving daughters and granddaughters, two very close friends and a loving couple whom I have known for years, I felt so grateful to be at this memories service. The room was filled with love. In this love many of us had such tears of loss and tears of gratitude.
Life, I believe more and more, is meant to be a slow gentle walk of love and gratitude. When I realize this life becomes simple and comforting regardless of what might happen. There is goodness in everything and everyone but I need to pay attention to this goodness and love which is everywhere.
What I am writing sounds very overly pious and unrealistic. But I have discovered that the presence of love, the presence of God is always coming toward each of us in so many ways. When I pay attention to this, I experience a peacefulness and a gratitude and I simply want to slowly journey through life where this experience of love and gratitude becomes deeper and deeper.
This last Saturday being at this memorial service remembering a good friend and being with such loving friends and family. I felt so filled with love and gratitude even in my tears. I was asked go give a short talk and I simply recalled how much Pat’s husband loved her so much over so many years and I had never heard Allan or Pat say a negative word about each other. Yes, love is the answer to a peaceful life and creates an inner peace in ourselves that we can lovingly give to others. As I finish writing this article I feel so blessed, so loved and so thankful for all the loving people I know in my life.
