As part of its Charitable Foundation’s efforts, BSP Law hosted ‘On the Court for New Day’ and ‘An Evening for a New Day’ to benefit the New Day Foundation for Families on Thursday, July 24, at Red Run Golf Club in Royal Oak. Attendees enjoyed a fun day on the court with a pickleball tournament and later in the evening guests gathered for cocktails, hors d’oeurves, cigars, wine pull, and a silent auction. Among those happy to support the fundraising event were (l-r) Patrick Seyferth, partner at Bush Seyferth PLLC; Michael Spehn of New Day Foundation; U.S. District Court Judge Stephen Murphy, Eastern District of Michigan; and Ed Lynch, board chair of New Day Foundation. The New Day Foundation for Families is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit co-founded by Michael and Gina (Kell) Spehn in memory of their late spouses, Matt Kell and Cathy Spehn, who each lost a valiant battle with cancer. The foundation’s mission is to improve treatment outcomes by alleviating the financial burden of cancer. Through a growing network of hospitals across Michigan, New Day works with social workers and financial navigators to effectively qualify families and begin providing vital financial and emotional resources.
