It is alleged that on Monday, Aug. 4, Taylor was at the Target store on Gratiot Ave. in Clinton Township.
Lucido said Taylor placed numerous merchandise items in a shopping cart and exited the store without paying. Target Loss Prevention detained Taylor and the merchandise was recovered. The total value of the merchandise was $900.29.
Taylor has 29 prior convictions for retail fraud. He was released from prison on July 8 and is currently on parole for First-Degree Retail Fraud.
Taylor was arraigned Tuesday in the 41B District Court in Clinton Township, MI before Magistrate Ryan Zemke on the following charges:
Retail Fraud – First-Degree, a 5-year felony
Habitual Offender – Fourth Offense Notice, an aggravating sentencing factor
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Erica Clute-Cubbin requested a $50,000 cash bond, a steel cuff GPS tether, no contact with the Target store, and substance abuse evaluation.
Zemke set a $29,000 cash/surety bond and referred Taylor to Community Correction for a substance abuse evaluation. If released, Taylor must wear a steel cuff GPS tether. Magistrate Zemke did not impose any other bond conditions.
