Shades of Pink to host 5th annual golf outing Sept. 19

Scores of golfers turned out for last year’s SOPF outing at Lincoln Hills on a sun-splashed afternoon.

The Shades of Pink Foundation will hold its 5th Annual Nine, Wine and Dine event on Friday, Sept. 19 at Lincoln Hills Golf Course in Birmingham.

The golf outing will begin at 3 p.m. with registration and a putting contest, followed by a shotgun start at 4 o’clock. An awards dinner will follow the outing.

“Funds raised at this ladies’ golf outing will help further SOPF’s mission,” said Jackie Odom and Cindy Broderick, event co-chairs. “Every dollar that is donated stays local and supports families in need right here in our community.”

Now in its 20th year of helping local victims of breast cancer, SOPF has assisted more than 1,600 individuals and their families in Southeast Michigan as they navigate the high costs of a breast cancer diagnosis.

“Founded on the principle that no person should have to forgo life-saving medical treatment due to financial need and thanks to our community’s generous contributions, we have distributed over $3.5 million in assistance,” said Odom and Broderick.
“From mortgage payments to utility bills, insurance premiums to childcare, SOPF has helped ease the financial burden for local breast cancer patients in need. By paying bills directly, we give patients the peace of mind necessary to move forward with their treatment and recovery.”

The entry fee is $140 and includes 9 holes of golf, the putting contest, and dinner. Assorted prizes and gift baskets will be presented during the dinner program. To register, visit shadesofpinkfoundation.org. For more information about the golf outing, call Jackie Odom at (248) 202-3367.
