‘Case Transfers MythBusters Webinar’ presented by MJI

The Michigan Judicial Institute and Friend of the Court Bureau will present a “Case Transfers MythBusters Webinar” on Thursday, October 23, from 9 to 10 a.m. via Zoom.

This session will bust the most common myths about transferring family law cases under Michigan Court Rule 3.212 and talk about the changes that became effective this year. It will set the record straight on what happens if Friend of the Court (FOC) staff or referees have a conflict, how staff can help avoid unnecessary delays, and we how can use case transfer to ultimately help the families we serve. With a mix of practical tips and real-world examples, the webinar will separate fact from fiction so judicial officers and court staff can feel confident handling transfers.

Speaking at the webinar will be Elizabeth West, management analyst, Friend of the Court Bureau, State Court Administrative Office, Michigan Supreme Court.

This program is eligible for 1.0 Continuing Judicial Education (CJE) Credit [Judicial Practice & Related Areas].
