‘Bar Night Out’ planned by OCBA
This fall, the Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA) Membership and New Lawyers committees are teaming up to present “Bar Night Out: Novemberfest” on Thursday, November 6, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Crispelli’s Troy, 645 E. Big Beaver Road in Troy.
Attendees can connect with colleagues while enjoying delicious food, and a cash bar in a unique and lively atmosphere.
The event is free for OCBA members and $25 for non-members. Space is limited. To register, visit www.ocba.org and click on “events.”

Law school hosts discussion on wrongful convictions Oct. 8
The University of Detroit Mercy School of Law Conviction Integrity Clinic will present a discussion on “Unraveling Injustice: Insights from the Courtroom & the Wrongfully Convicted” Wednesday, October 8, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Detroit Mercy Law, 651 East Jefferson in Detroit.
To recognize Wrongful Conviction Day, an exoneree and the stakeholders who pursued and secured his release will provide a candid conversation. Speaking at the event will be:

BWLA of Michigan hosts Membership Drive Oct. 23
The Black Women Lawyers Association of Michigan is hosting its Membership Drive on Thursday, October 23, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Soul on Ice, 8867 Livernois Ave. in Detroit.
During the evening, BWLAM will introduce its member judges and present a special tribute to the late Allen Venable by State Rep. Stephanie A. Young.
