Woman charged with 18 felonies after allegedly hitting at least 11 people with her vehicle referred for mental health evaluation

Macomb County authorities say Rachele Ricklefs, a 30-year-old Lake Orion woman who is charged with 18 felonies related to allegations of her running down at least 11 people with her vehicle, has been referred for a competency evaluation.

On Tuesday, Warren’s 37th District Court Judge Suzanne Faunce referred Ricklefs for a competency evaluation. The court set a date of Dec. to review the evaluation results and status of the case.

Ricklefs is in custody at the Macomb County Jail with bond set at $750,000 cash/surety, no 10%.

It is alleged that on Friday, Sept. 26, Warren police responded to multiple calls related to people being struck by a black Jeep.

The driver of the vehicle is alleged to be Ricklefs, who had her six-year-old child with her. Authorities say she intentionally drove her vehicle into 10 individuals and one police officer.

Ricklefs was stopped in the parking lot of Walmart at 29176 Van Dyke after she drove into two people loading groceries into their vehicles.

She resisted arrest but was taken into custody.

Earlier the same evening, Clawson police encountered Ricklefs. At that time, her 12-year-old son escaped out of vehicle and Ricklefs fled, hitting two Clawson police vehicles in the process.
