Taste of Diversity
The Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA) gathered with colleagues from partnering affinity bar associations for the biennial Taste of Diversity cocktail reception on Thursday, October 16, at the Great Lakes Culinary Center in Southfield. During the strolling reception, the Leon Hubbard Community Service Award was presented to Wayne County 36th District Court Judge Poncé D. Clay (second from left) and the Michael K. Lee Memorial Award was presented to Kristina Bilowus (center) of Michigan State University College of Law. Happy to congratulate the honorees were (l-r) Darnell Smith of Lipton Law, OCBA President Sarah Kuchon of Hohauser Kuchon, and OCBA President-Elect Aaron Burrell of Dickinson Wright PLLC. Partnering bar associations at the event included the Armenian-American Bar Association, D. Augustus Straker Bar Association, Detroit Bar Association, Hispanic Bar Association, Incorporated Society of Irish-American Lawyers, Michigan Asian Pacific American Bar Association, and Women’s Bar Association. The Taste of Diversity is sponsored by the OCBA Diversity and Inclusion Committee. It was established in 2015 to celebrate multiculturalism within the profession and to foster collaboration among area affinity bars in promoting greater awareness and advocacy for diversity in the legal field.
