Paul Shailor


Paul Christopher Shailor passed away on December 28, 2025, at the age of 37.

Shailor attended Shrine schools in Royal Oak from preschool through 12th grade and graduated in 2006. He earned a B.S. in Political Science and History from Central Michigan University and law degree from Wayne State University Law School. 

Shailor was admitted to the State Bar in 2014.  He was a principal at the Kitch Attorneys & Counselors’ Mt. Clemens office, where he was a dedicated advocate for his clients and a respected mentor to his colleagues. He specialized in Michigan No-Fault (PIP) and third-party automobile litigation, bringing a unique perspective to his defense practice that made him a tangible asset to the firm and its clients.

Shailor married the love of his life, Amanda, on June 13, 2020, and had two children, Archibald Ernest (Archie), age 4, and Lillian Caroline (Lily), six months.

Shailor is survived by his mother Michelle Shailor, brother John (Dayna) Shailor, father-in-law Jerome Peoples, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A funeral service took place January 8 at the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica.  Funeral arrangements were coordinated by Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Directors in Royal Oak

Michael J. Sugameli


Michael J. Sugameli passed away December 29, 2025, at the age of 77.

Sugameli was a resident of Southeast Michigan for his entire adult life. He attended the University of Detroit, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in 1971 and his Master of Business Administration in 1974. Michael received his law degree in 1978 from Detroit College of Law and was admitted to the bar that same year.

An attorney for 47 years, Sugameli owned and operated Sugameli Law in Troy where he practiced law in a range of areas, including small business issues, acquisitions, employment, contracts, corporate planning, estate planning, family law, mergers, personal injury, real estate, and other general civil matters. 

He also proudly served as a professor at Oakland University, where he taught courses in business law and real estate investment.

Sugameli is survived by his wife Pauline (nee: Alastra); children Paul Sugameli (Melissa), Tom Sugameli (Erika Benjamin), and Marie Lawless (Jacob); grandchildren Julian, Enzo, Dominic, Matteo, and Benjamin.
