State Rep. Julie Rogers (D-Kalamazoo) accepted the Michigan Works! Southwest’s 2025 Legislator of the Year award today, recognizing her leadership in expanding workforce opportunities and strengthening economic mobility across Southwest Michigan.
“I am honored to accept this award and truly appreciate the partnership of Michigan Works! Southwest in our region as a resource for both individuals seeking employment and employers,” Rogers said. “When my office refers residents to their services, I have heard positive feedback about their programs. As so many industries are struggling with workforce issues, Michigan Works! continues to be a much-needed resource in our community.”
Rogers, who represents Michigan’s 41st House District, has a long record of workforce development leadership, including six years of prior service on the Michigan Works! Southwest Workforce Development Board as a Kalamazoo County Commissioner. In the Legislature, she has championed policies that support health care access, promote inclusive economic growth and strengthen career pathways so more Michiganders can succeed in good-paying jobs.
“Michigan Works! Southwest is grateful for Representative Julie Rogers and her unwavering commitment to workforce development and economic opportunity in our region,” said Jakki Bungart-Bibb, director of Michigan Works!
