Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald is leading the race for attorney general again in fundraising this past quarter, raising $187,263, campaign records showed.
McDonald, a Democratic candidate in the race, spent around $188,792 during the last few months of 2025, spending more than what was raised during the quarter. Still, the campaign has $624,162 cash on hand. Her total expenditure for the cycle so far is $508,284 of the $1.1 million raised.
Major contributors to the campaign included $83,250 from the Plumbers and Steamfitters 85 PAC.
The other candidates in the race raised less than half of McDonald's totals this quarter.
Washtenaw County Prosecutor Eli Savit, McDonald’s only remaining competitor for the Democratic nomination, raised $51,915 last quarter. The campaign spent $25,888 during the quarter, with a total expenditure for the cycle at $166,467.
Cash on hand for Savit sits at $185,873.
Contributors for this quarter included Pursuit of Justice again with $5,000, which consistently provided funds throughout the year.
In the Republican contest, Eaton County Prosecutor Doug Lloyd raised $47,397. The campaign spent $73,498 this quarter, leaving around $20,381 cash on hand.
Lloyd loaned his campaign $22,000 in the last quarter. Other large contributors included Kenneth Fowler, owner of Great Lakes Kush, and attorney Andrew Abood.
Birmingham attorney Kevin Kijewski raised $11,875 this quarter, bringing the year cumulative to $92,521. The campaign spent $21,807 this quarter and $75,891 over the year.
Kijewski’s cash on hand settles at $16,630.
Kijewski loaned himself $67,735 throughout the year. One major contributor this quarter was former congressional candidate in the U.S. 11th House District in 2022 Matthew DenOtter.
