Ceremony Celebration
An investiture ceremony was conducted for Wayne County 36th District Court Judge Ponce D. Clay (center) on Saturday, February 7, at Oak Grove AME Church in Detroit. Among those congratulating Clay at the event were Judicial Tenure Commissioner and former U.S. Attorney Dawn Ison (left) and Rev. Cindy Rudolph (right), OAK Grove AME senior pastor. Clay was appointed by Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer in August 2025 to fill a partial term, expiring January 1, 2027, following the resignation of Judge Donald Coleman. The founding partner and managing attorney at Clay Law PLC, Clay previously served as division director of Wayne County Veterans Services and as a director of operations at the U.S. Navy Michigan Recruiting Headquarters. Additionally, Clay served as a U.S. Naval Officer for more than 20 years and formerly served as a mentor on the 36th District’s Veterans Treatment Court.
