Albert launches re-election bid for Michigan Senate

State Sen. Thomas Albert announced he will seek a second term representing the 18th District in the Michigan Senate, continuing his efforts to make the state a better place to live, work and raise a family.

The 18th District includes all of Barry County and portions of Allegan, Calhoun, Kalamazoo, Kent, and Ionia counties. Albert was first elected to the Senate in 2022 after serving in the Michigan House of Representatives.

“Michigan’s best days are ahead of us – but only if we choose real leaders who believe in accountability and creating opportunities for everyone,” said Albert, R-Lowell. “This election is about moving forward with proven policies that fight inflation and make life more affordable, strengthen families, and give our children a brighter future.”

A former chair of the House Appropriations Committee, his work on the state budget emphasizes eliminating waste and fighting government overreach while returning to proven policies that will allow the state to grow from the ground up.

Albert, a U.S. Marine Corp veteran, supports lowering taxes so Michigan residents can keep more of their own money, fight inflation and invest in their own futures. He supports investing in education, public safety and infrastructure so communities can thrive, while opposing state-directed economic planning, corporate welfare and “green energy” mandates.

“I have seen what works – and what doesn’t,” Albert said. “Centralized planning and government mandates don’t work. Allowing Michigan residents to keep more of their own money and have more control over their own futures is the path forward, and that’s been proven throughout our history.”
