Club donates cold weather gear and blankets

The “Climax Willing Worker 4-H Club,” directed by Robin Peck, is made up of a group of kids ranging from ages 5 to 19. The group’s focus is to make a positive difference in the lives of others. With that goal in mind, and with the help of the Climax-Scotts High School and Elementary School, they have just collected cold-weather gear for kids.  The Club members also made beautiful hand-tied fleece blankets. However, they were undecided as to where to donate their items.

Two of the boys who belong to this group, and their mother, also volunteer at the Scotts United Methodist Church Food Pantry.  After the mother told Robin about the pantry and the number of families that it has served, Robin shared the information with the club. Excited to donate locally, they unanimously agreed on their recipient.

Robin contacted Chris Schuiteboer, director of the pantry, and they met at the church. Having unloaded one huge box, plus 3 large bags, Chris spent a couple of hours arranging the gifts on the pantry tables. As she worked, the thought of all of those kids and their amazing contributions brought tears to her eyes.

It warms the soul to see others seeking ways to help those in need. However, to see the younger generation giving so generously to enhance the lives of other young people is indeed inspiring.  Oh, yes, I think thoughts of those kids and their amazing contributions will surely bring tears to our eyes as well.

“Oh, bless their giving hearts.”
