Fun For C-S Elementary School Students
A physical education teacher is constantly trying to introduce new programs to promote physical activity and encourage participation in class. Climax-Scotts Elementary Physical Education instructor Nicholas Frisbie has found a winner in roller skating.
Frisbie said he first learned about bringing roller skating into the physical education curriculum when he was student teaching in the Grand Rapids Public School system. Recalling the experience as a student teacher he had working with Skatetime, a company out of Illinois that started working with schools in 1985 bringing roller skating as a new form of physical activity into P.E. classes, Frisbie said he wanted to try the program at the local elementary school.

From his 10-year, $1.6 trillion tax cut proposal to his makeup and the way he presented himself, local residents who were fortunate to hear President George W. Bush’s speech in person at Western Michigan University’s Student Recreation Center Tuesday were impressed with the president.
Gilbert Collver, owner of CTS Communications, Climax, sat at a table in front and even got an opportunity to shake the president’s hand after he delivered his 25-minute speech.
Mark Drallette, of Climax Township and an insurance agent for Hayward Insurance Agency, Vicksburg, was in attendance as well and also gave the president’s speech a thumbs up.
Former C-S Student Had Plenty of Support from Area During Gull Lake’s Run to State Semifinals
Although he has worn a Gull Lake jersey since he transferred out of the Climax-Scotts School district after he was in fourth grade here, Climax is still very much on the mind of Kurtis Marlowe, who had an abundance of support from the Climax-Scotts area during Gull Lake’s run to the Class B high school state semifinals where the Blue Devils were defeated 53-44 by Detroit Crockett last Friday.
Marlowe, the son of Mark and Laura Marlowe and a senior at Gull Lake, is quick to point out he appreciates the fan support he has received this year and throughout his high school athletic career.

from the March 26, 1926 Climax CrescentThe Masonic Minstrels a Complete Success
Everything went over fine in the Masonic Minstrels, a big crowd attending both shows. The big crowds that attended both nights sure seemed to enjoy it. The boys took their different parts in fine shape.
The jokes they cracked were taken with a big applause. Singing and dancing acts were good. In fact, the show was as good as anything seen here in some time.
The Masonic Minstrels was put on by the Climax lodge, No. 59, and they are planning on showing in Scotts the first part of April. Many who missed the show on account of sickness are planning on attending at Scotts. It was the first time any of the boys ever appeared in public to show what they could do, and they sure went through good. Plan on seeing them at Scotts. Watch the bills for date.
