Firm hosts April 14 webinar,
‘Are You Ready for Kamax?’
The Michigan Supreme Court will soon decide Kamax v FCA, which will squarely address whether several contractual quantity terms used by many buyers in the automotive supply chain create a requirements contract. A great deal is at stake in Kamax and prudent buyers and sellers will want to prepare for the decision, rather than react to it.
Butzel is hosting a free 60-minute webinar from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, April 14, which will focus on the practical implications of the decision and steps to consider, or take, in advance of the decision, whether a buyer or a seller. It also will review the April 8 Supreme Court oral argument in Kamax. Presenting at the webinar will be Butzel’s Sheldon H. Klein and Andrew AbdulNour.
Klein is a co-chair of Butzel's Global Automotive Coordinating Committee. He focuses his practice on representing automotive suppliers in matters relating to upstream and downstream commercial relationships, including counseling on terms and conditions and litigation arising out of supply chain disruptions and disputes.
AbdulNour focuses his practice on intellectual property law, specifically in the automotive compliance and regulatory and data privacy spaces. In the automotive compliance and regulatory area, he guides suppliers through issues involving Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) noncompliance, warranty and product quality disputes, and testing non-conformances, while also helping clients mitigate risk and incorporate proper regulations and industry standards.

‘Forensic Sciences Debrief’
offered online by SADO
The State Appellate Defender Office has re-scheduled its “Forensic Sciences Debrief” webinar for Wednesday, April 8, from noon to 1:30 p.m. via Zoom.
In December 2025, the Michigan State Police Science Division hosted a two-day conference, open to defense attorneys, prosecutors, police, judges, and forensic scientists.
In this online training, Erin Van Campen (NDS-Detroit) and Jason Eggert (SADO) will provide key takeaways from the conference. Topics will include practice tips for obtaining and requesting discovery, preserving the right to confront forensic analysts, and highlighting forensic disciplines where defense attorneys should consider filing Daubert motions and engage defense experts.
To register for the webinar, visit www.sado.org/go/Debrief2026. Anyone with questions may email cdrc@sado. org.
