Commencement ceremony planned for Class of 2026


The University of Detroit Mercy School of Law will celebrate the graduating class of 2026 at the Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 8, at 2 p.m. in Calihan Hall on the McNichols Campus of University of Detroit Mercy.

Graduates, dignitaries, and faculty are expected to arrive at Calihan no later than 1 p.m. Guests may begin to be seated in Calihan Hall at 1 p.m. and should be seated by 1:45 p.m. to make way for the academic procession. 

Currently, there are no limits to the number of guests allowed per graduate for the School of Law ceremony. No tickets are required.

Family Treatment Court focus of online discussion


The Michigan Judicial Institute will continue its “Michigan Family Treatment Court Community of Practice (CoP) Series” hosted by Problem-Solving Courts (PSC) online Monday, May 11, from 11 a.m to noon via Zoom.

The Family Treatment Court Community of Practice Series (FTC CoP) provides opportunities for cross-system, peer-to-peer networking and learning.  FTC teams are encouraged to participate in sharing barriers they are experiencing, gaining knowledge on pertinent topics, offering support through challenges, and brainstorming solutions.

Signature Event planned for May 6 in West Bloomfield


The Oakland County Bar Foundation (OCBF) will host its 2026 Signature Event on Wednesday, May 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Orchard Lake Country Club, 5000 West Shore Dr. in West Bloomfield.

The 27th annual event offers an unforgettable evening filled with delicious food, a vibrant atmosphere, and the opportunity to support the vital work of the OCBF.

The Signature Event is the foundation’s exclusive fundraising gala, providing essential grants to numerous deserving nonprofit organizations. These grants further the OCBF’s mission to ensure access to justice and promote a deeper understanding of the law within our community.
