Technology with a little bit of ineptitude brings serious but comedic results for three high school students played by (left to right) Emily Palaszeski, Tabby Deeren, and Allison Price, who contemplate the consequences after activating a time machine in the lab where one of them works after school. To learn what happens next, see “George Washington Ate My Homework” at Quonset Hut Theater in Athens April 24-26.

Athens Community Theater (ACT) will transcend time and space in its upcoming comedy production, which involves historical figures and a time machine. The play, “George Washington Ate My Homework” by Todd Wallinger, was produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Denver, Colorado
“One of the big reasons we chose the show was that it ties in well with this year being the 250th anniversary of our country,” said director Mark Doubleday, “We’ve also had really good luck with Todd Wallinger plays. He allows room to do more comedy within his comedy. We’ve had a ball during rehearsals and our audience will learn a little bit of history while having fun.”
The “George Washington Ate My Homework” cast consists of Tabby Deeren (Junie), Emily Palaszeski (Naomi), Allison Price (Warner) Brad Kenyon (George Washington), Roseann Kenyon (Joan of Arc), Carrie Wing (Cleopatra), Larry Todak (Albert Einstein), Jennifer Nichols (Florence Nightingale), Gary Eberly (H.G. Wells), Laura Martinez (Grace Hopper), Katherine Woodward (Mary Read), Linda Kenyon (Anne Bonny), Jayme Palaszeski (Dr. Bizwang), Reagan Wing (Daisy/Darlene), and Rosie Palaszeski (Maisy/Marlene). Nick Enlow will handle control booth duties and Katrina Nichols is the stagehand.
Performances of this family-friendly show will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 24; 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 25; and 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 26. Admission is $10 per person. Concessions by “The Popcorn Lady” Sarah Jordan-Grubb will complement the show. The Quonset Hut Theater is located at 132 N. Capital Avenue in downtown Athens.
