ESD’s annual writing contest is open to all engineering students who attend Michigan universities and are studying within any of the engineering and related disciplines. A variety of topics are offered for participants and the top three essays are chosen by the editorial board of ESD’s TechCentury Magazine.
Sheer wrote on the microprocessor revolution, addressing the prompt, “Select an emerging technology from a past era (20+ years ago) and explain how it paved the way for progress in today’s engineering landscape.”
The two runner-up honorees, Cordelia Sorrelle, a biomedical engineering student at the University of Michigan, and Jamie Hung, an electrical engineering student at the University of Michigan, both wrote their essays on the topic, “Mentorship, Motivation and the Future of STEAM. All three essays can be read here, pages 14-16, in the most recent issue of TechCentury Magazine.
