Kirinovic named varsity football coach
The Climax-Scotts School District has named Justin Kirinovic as the new Varsity Football Coach according to a release issued by the school district May 22.
The vacancy was created after the C-S School Board made the decision not to retain Tyler Langs as the Varsity Football Coach and Athletic Director at a special school board meeting February 24.
Langs served as a co-head coach with his father, Hall of Fame coach and former longtime C-S varsity football coach Kevin Langs in 2021 and became head coach in 2022.
According to the school district’s release, Kirinovic brings eight years of coaching experience at multiple levels of high school football, along with a strong passion for student-athlete development and relationship-building.

He has served in coaching roles at Tawas Area High School, Parchment High School, and Gull Lake High School, gaining experience as an assistant coach, offensive coordinator, and JV head coach.
A 2014 graduate of Tawas Area High School, Kirinovic went on to attend Western Michigan University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Education in 2020.
In addition to leading the Panther football program, Kirinovic will also serve as a teacher at Climax-Scotts Jr. & Sr. High School beginning this fall.
Throughout his coaching career, Kirinovic has focused on creating positive team culture, building strong relationships with athletes and families, and developing programs centered on accountability, teamwork, and growth. His coaching experience includes designing practice plans, coordinating offensive schemes, mentoring student-athletes, and assisting with program operations and fundraising.
Kirinovic credits his own high school football coach as a major influence on both his educational and coaching philosophy.
“I was inspired to become an educator and football coach by my high school football coach, Tim Webb,” said Kirinovic. “He instilled the idea that a football team should be a family and that we should build bonds and memories that last a lifetime. That is something I will carry into my time at Climax-Scotts.”
Kirinovic expressed excitement about joining the Climax-Scotts community and leading the Panther football program into the future.
“I’m honored to be the next head coach at Climax-Scotts,” said Kirinovic. “I can’t wait to meet the players, parents, and community members and hit the ground running.”
