Recently, courts raised concerns regarding discrepancies between Criminal History Records (CHR) and SOS driving records, while the Secretary of State (SOS) expressed concerns about courts ordering amendments to driving records following the dismissal of criminal charges after delayed sentences.
This webinar will explain the relationship between CHR and the SOS driving records, potential collateral consequences that can result when the records do not align, and possible mitigation strategies.

SADO webinar to provide
criminal procedure updates
This training will review recent Michigan appellate opinions addressing criminal defendants' procedural rights under Michigan and federal law, including the right to the assistance of counsel and self-representation, to confrontation, and to present a defense.
Speaking at the webinar will be Steven Helton, a research and training attorney in SADO’s Criminal Defense Resource Center. He served an assistant defender at SADO from 2018-2025.
