The Ingham County Bar Association (ICBA) is announcing a leadership transition. After 16 years of dedicated service, Madelyne C. Lawry has officially resigned as the Executive Director. At the August Board Meeting, Kate Pojeta, CAE, was named as ICBA’s new Executive Director.
Over the past 16 years, Lawry’s leadership has been transformative for the association. When she first took on the ICBA, it faced significant financial challenges, limited reserves, and a lack of formal operational policies. Working hand-in-hand with the board and volunteer leaders, Lawry helped establish sound financial practices, build healthy investment reserves, and implement the governance policies that secure the organization today.
"Watching the association move from financial uncertainty to a healthy, secure position is, without question, the accomplishment I am most proud of," said Lawry. "It was a team effort, and I will always be grateful to the many volunteer leaders who shared that vision and worked to make it a reality."
As the legal profession and members' needs evolve, this transition presents an exciting opportunity to bring fresh energy, expanded technological expertise, and new member engagement strategies to the ICBA.
Kate Pojeta steps into the Executive Director role bringing enthusiasm, innovative thinking, and a strong understanding of modern communication tools to build upon the ICBA’s solid foundation.
