Dickinson Wright is pleased to announce that Joanne Faycurry and Samuel McKim have joined the firm’s Troy office.

Faycurry joins Dickinson Wright as a member. She concentrates her practice on state and local tax controversy and litigation work, as well as on state tax planning. She is dedicated to helping her clients obtain considerable tax refunds and savings with respect to nearly every state and local tax levied in Michigan. Clients ranging from small-business owners to Fortune 500 companies benefit from her knowledge of all state-levied taxes, including Michigan’s corporate income tax; sales, use and withholding taxes; and individual income taxes.

In her property tax practice, Faycurry is focused on resolving real and personal property tax valuation/ assessment disputes, exemption claims and special assessment disputes. Her understanding of valuation principles and the underlying legal issues of her clients’ valuation cases allows her to successfully represent them in real and personal property tax appeals.

Faycurry represents clients in state and local tax matters throughout the United States. She is recognized as a leader in her field by Best Lawyers in America and Michigan Super Lawyers. She is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel. 

Faycurry received her B.A. from Wayne State University and her law degree from Michigan State University College of Law.

McKim joins Dickinson Wright as Of Counsel. He counsels clients and assists them with tax planning, opinion work, and trial and appellate appeals. He is particularly interested in cases involving state and local tax issues of first impression as well as cases involving complex legal and factual issues. 

McKim is recognized as a leader in his field by Best Lawyers in America and Top Michigan Lawyers (Corporation and Tax Law). He is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel. He has taught state and local tax law as an adjunct professor at Wayne State University Law School. 

McKim received his A.B. from the University of Michigan and his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.

Miller Johnson


Miller Johnson is proud to announce that Detroit attorney Jeff Turner has been awarded Section of the Year by the Detroit Bar Association. Turner received the award for his work as president of the Detroit Bar Association Barristers, a section for attorneys that have been in practice for ten years or less.

Turner focuses his practice in complex civil litigation, appellate, and government investigations. He has defended class action lawsuits, litigated claims related to securities law and intellectual property, and represented companies in fraud investigations by the Department of Justice. Among his professional accomplishments, he has argued and won in the Michigan Supreme Court and he has obtained complete dismissal of class action lawsuits at the pleadings stage.

Bodman PLC is pleased to announce that Josephine H. Wenson joined the firm as an associate in the Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group.

Wenson is located in Bodman’s Detroit office and represents clients involved in complex commercial litigation matters.

Prior to joining Bodman, Wenson served as an associate with an AMLaw 100 law firm in its commercial litigation and toxic tort litigation departments. In this role, she aided clients in a variety of commercial and complex litigation matters through drafting pleadings and motions, facilitating pre-trial discovery and document production, researching issues to provide legal analysis, and attending court hearings.

Wenson is a graduate of University of Pittsburgh School of Law and received her undergraduate degree from Marquette University.

Goodman Acker announces Kia Johnson has joined the firm as a legal assistant. With a foundation in Michigan auto law, Johnson brings experience and fresh perspective and will support Partner Amanda Warner.

A Master of Public Health candidate at Michigan State University (May 2025), Johnson has several years of experience supporting high-volume personal injury caseloads, specializing in Personal Injury Protection (PIP), Bodily Injury (BI), and Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM) claims. She has previously served in legal support roles at The Law Offices of Joumana Kayrouz and National Appellate Clinic & Associates.

Johnson’s background also includes experience in education and content moderation. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience, and will begin a Paralegal Certificate program at Oakland Community College (ABA-accredited) in August 2025.
