Judge Michael Warren announces candidacy for state Supreme Court
Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Michael Warren announced Thursday evening his candidacy for the Michigan Supreme Court. Warren is seeking the Republican Party’s nomination at the endorsement convention to be held March 28.
Warren brings more than two decades of judicial experience to the race, having served over 23 years on the Oakland County Circuit Court. During his tenure, he has presided over more than 375 jury trials and built a reputation as a consistent advocate for the rule of law and the original meaning of the Constitution.
“For decades, I have worked to uphold the Constitution and law as they were written and understood by the People and lawmakers,” said Warren. “I am running to ensure our courts remain faithful to the Constitution and committed to equal justice under the law.”
A respected legal scholar and educator, Warren is a professor of business law at Wayne State University and has taught constitutional law at Cooley Law School. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and Wayne State University’s Honors College in History. Early in his legal career, he clerked for Michigan Supreme Court Justice Dorothy Comstock Riley.
Warren is also an accomplished author. His newest book, “The Revolutionary Words that Forged America: The Definitive Guide to the Declaration of Independence” (Republic Books 2026), offers a line-by-line examination of America’s founding charter. He previously authored “America’s Survival Guide: How to Stop America’s Impending Suicide by Reclaiming Our First Principles and History” (Mill City Press 2007), along with numerous law review articles, legal reform initiatives, official proclamations, public reports, and commentaries.
In 2009, alongside his then 10-year-old daughter Leah, Warren co-created Patriot Week, a nonpartisan, nonprofit initiative dedicated to promoting American history and civic education. Patriot Week has been unanimously recognized by the United States Senate and numerous states. He also co-hosts the “Patriot Lessons: American History and Civics” podcast.
Warren previously served as a member of the Michigan State Board of Education and has received numerous professional recognitions, including induction into the Hall of Fame by the International Association of Top Professionals.
He is married to his wife, Shannon, and together they have two adult children, Leah and Alexander, and a West Highland Terrier named Dickens. Outside the courtroom, Warren is an avid marathon runner and devoted “Trekkie.”
