Attorneys discuss ‘Premises Liability in Michigan’ online
Plunkett Cooney will present the webinar “Premises Liability in Michigan: Emerging Defenses After the Restructuring of the State’s Open and Obvious Doctrine” on Wednesday, November 18, from 11 a.m. to noon.
Quietly gaining momentum in the background of Michigan’s litigation system is a steady increase in the number and sophistication of premises liability claims reaching courthouses across the state, brought by hungry and emboldened plaintiff attorneys.
These claims apply creative theories of liability, and they are being aggressively leveraged against a backdrop of social inflation and nuclear jury verdicts.
Litigation costs are rising, and defense counsel is working to defeat these claims on such grounds as duty to warn, lack of notice and comparative negligence.
During this webinar, Plunkett Cooney attorneys Jake W. Hendricks and Robert A. Marzano will discuss key litigation cost drivers and provide attendees with concrete steps they can take to mitigate premises liability risk and present a formidable defense should a premises slip, trip or fall lead to litigation.
