Veterans Day ceremony planned at county venue

The Veterans Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association will host a Veterans Day ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at the Oakland County Commissioners Auditorium in Pontiac.

The ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will feature welcoming remarks by OCBA President Aaron Burrell, a military color guard from North Oakland VFW Post 334, an invocation delivered by Pastor Darin Weiss, and the singing of the National Anthem by Julian Sykes of Grace Centers of Hope. Oakland County Circuit Judge Michael Warren will recite the Pledge of Allegiance, while retired Army General John Kulhavi, a combat veteran of the Vietnam War, will deliver the keynote address.

“This commemoration will reflect on the sacrifices made for American freedoms and will feature a series of decorated combat veterans,” said attorney Michael Schloff, a Vietnam war veteran who is a past president of the OCBA.
“The OCBA’s Veterans Committee is hosting this ceremony to honor all of Oakland County’s military veterans who have served our country over the past 250 years.”
